A warehouse complex 75 metres long, assembled from three bays of different widths — 30, 24 and 18 metres — stepped back from one another. In two of the three, the trusses clear the full span: there is not a single internal column under the roof, and the whole volume is free for racking and machinery.

Structural solution
The frame is formed by columns, trusses, purlins and bracing. Spatial rigidity comes from rigid connections between all members. Walls and roof are insulated with sandwich panels.
Three spans, stepped
The building is made up of three bays of different widths: 30.25, 24.25 and 18.25 metres, with a total length on grid of 75.25 metres. The bays are stepped back from one another, each with its own truss type — FS-15, FS-24 and FS-18. This lets the storage zones differ in height and width without building three separate structures, and without spending steel on a wide span where none is needed.
24 and 18 metres with no internal columns
In the middle and small bays the truss clears the whole span: 23,750 and 17,750 millimetres between column centrelines, with no posts inside. The widest bay has a single central row of columns carrying two 15-metre trusses. For a warehouse this is what matters most: no forest of intermediate supports in the way of forklifts and racking.
Close spacing instead of heavy frames
The trusses are set about 3 metres apart — nine in the first bay, eight in the second. That is the whole principle of light gauge steel: instead of widely spaced heavy frames that need a crawler crane, you use many light trusses, each of which an ordinary truck crane can lift. The roof purlins are 150 mm Z-sections 12.2 metres long, running across four truss bays at once.
Columns from two 250 mm sections
Columns K-1 and K-2 are built up from two C-sections 250 mm deep with a 2 mm wall. The underside of the trusses is at 6.0 metres, the top of the columns at 7.240, and the ridge between 8.310 and 8.910 metres depending on the span. Frame sections are 100, 150, 200 and 250 mm deep, in S245 steel to GOST 27772-88.
Bracing and wall framing
Vertical bracing in C250 × 1.5 sections is placed at three points along the building, taking the wind load along the walls. Wall rails run at 0.150, 3.100 and 6.000 metres and double as support for the sandwich panels. The characteristic wind pressure used in the analysis is 0.38 kPa.
Galvanised, assembled without welding
The sections are galvanised at the mill, so the design does not permit welding or flame-cutting them on site. Members are joined with Ø6.3 self-drilling screws and bolts to GOST 7798-70, paired C-sections are spliced to a standard detail, and the column bases are fixed with 12 × 128 and 16 × 163 mm wedge anchors. Coating damaged during erection is made good to SP 28.13330.2012.
Analysis and programme
The structure was analysed in the SCAD computational package, with loads to SP 20.13330.2016 and a design roof load of 1.8 kPa. The drawings were issued in April 2019, and photographs from 8 August that year already show the frame of all three bays standing — about four months from drawing to completed skeleton.
